HARNESSING THE POWER OF ECONOMICS
TO SOLVE WHOLE-OF-NATION CHALLENGES
Conference hosted by The MITRE Corporation
Keynote speaker: Dr. Emily Blanchard, Chief Economist, U.S. Department of State
Wednesday 6 September 2023, 9:00 am – 3:30 pm EDT
In-person at MITRE’s McLean and Bedford campuses
Remote via Teams meeting
This conference will join MITRE economists with speakers from government, academia, and industry to examine the role of economics in collaboratively solving whole-of-nation challenges. A whole-of-nation challenge is one in which maximum U.S. societal benefits can only be achieved in partnership with government agencies at the federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial levels, as well as with active academic and industry engagement. MITRE, in its trusted role as an operator of six USG-sponsored FFRDCs, fosters whole-of-nation collaboration and pursues innovative cross-cutting research that informs decision makers. Topics include economics of artificial intelligence, economic opportunity and inclusion, trade & supply chains, U.S. economic engagement globally, and the economics of broadband.
